At least 19 new characters are being planned for MultiVersus
The Founder’s Pack reveals Warner Bros’ plans for the free-to-play game
MultiVersus is due to receive at least 19 new characters at some point.
Update
LeBron James, Rick and Morty have now been officially confirmed from the below list, meaning there are still at least 16 characters to be announced.
The free-to-play platform fighter launches in open beta on July 26, but early access is currently available to those who played in previous closed tests, those who get codes through Twitch drops and those who buy a Founder’s Pack.
There are three Founder’s Packs available, ranging from a standard $40 pack to a Premium $100 pack, and each contains various in-game items and currency.
Most notably, the Premium Edition comes with 30 ‘Character Tokens’.

New fighters in the game can be unlocked with coins (which can be earned in-game) or Gleamium (which has to be bought with real money).
However, if a player has a Character Token they can instantly unlock the fighter that way instead.
At launch, MultiVersus has a total of 16 characters, 12 of whom are initially locked. Wonder Woman is then unlocked by playing the game’s tutorial.
This leaves 11 locked characters, meaning if players choose to unlock them all with Character Tokens they’ll still have 19 left, implying there are at least that number of fighters on the way.
In May, an alleged list of yet-to-be included characters was shared on Reddit by the person who originally leaked the existence of MultiVersus in the first place. This list included 21 fighters.
According to the leak, the following characters are “mostly finished”, a claim backed up with a large amount of datamined information from the base game including voice lines:
- Joker – DC
- Raven – DC
- Gizmo – Gremlins
- Marvin the Martian – Looney Tunes
- Lebron James – NBA
- Rick – Rick and Morty
- Morty – Rick and Morty
- Scooby-Doo – Scooby-Doo
- Daenerys – Game of Thrones
- The Hound – Game of Thrones
- Wicked Witch – The Wizard of Oz
- Godzilla – Godzilla
The following list of characters are also reportedly planned for inclusion, but in the early stages of development:
- Johnny Bravo – Johnny Bravo
- Fred Flinstone – Flinstones
- Samurai Jack – Samurai Jack
- The Powerpuff Girls – Powerpuff Girls (all one fighter)
- The Animaniacs – The Animaniacs (all one fighter)
- Duck Dodgers/Daffy – Looney Tunes
- Scorpion – Mortal Kombat
- Ben 10 – Ben 10
- Ted Lasso – Ted Lasso
The Founder’s Premium Edition also includes three tokens for Premium Battle Passes, indicating at least three seasons’ worth of content is planned.
The full open beta for MultiVersus will be available to everyone from July 26, where it will be available for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One and PC with full cross-play support.
To all intents and purposes, the open beta will mark the game’s official release, with players able to start their game progress right away and assurances from Warner Bros Games that this progress won’t be wiped.
An end date has not been set for the open beta, which will “continue to get updated with new characters, maps, seasonal content, and more in the months ahead”, suggesting any ‘final’ release will simply come as an update to the existing software.
“Player progression and unlocks earned during the MultiVersus Open Beta will carry forward through the life of the game,” Warner Bros Games confirmed.
