Astro Bot Winter Wonder update coming this week

Astro Bot update promises “a new level filled with presents and special bots”

Astro Bot Winter Wonder update coming this week

Sony has announced plans to release a surprise update for Astro Bot this week.

Titled the Winter Wonder update and only accessible to players who have completed the game, it will go live on Thursday, December 12 at 6pm PT / 9pm ET (December 13 at 2am GMT).

“Since we want it to remain a little surprise, we will not say too much, but you should expect a fun-filled level with shiny presents, a good dose of jingle bells, and brand-new special bots to add to your crew,” said Nicolas Doucet, studio director at developer Team Asobi.

“This winter update was made with every user in mind, meaning it is a celebration enjoyable for children and adults alike. So, no hair-pulling challenge this time! 🙂 We had a lot of fun making this special present for you all, and we hope you enjoy it very much, too.

“That’s all from us,” Doucet continued. “This year has been a very special journey for us at Team Asobi, and we thank you for joining us. Until next time, we wish you a very relaxing and restful end of the year, full of gaming of course, but above all, full of good health and happiness all around.”

Astro Bot was released in September and has sold over 1.5 million copies, according to publisher Sony.

VGC’s Astro Bot review called it “the best 3D platformer in a decade”.

The game received five free speedrun stages as DLC, which were released weekly starting in mid-October.

VGC recently got the chance to visit Team Asobi for an inside look at the development of the game, and the history of the franchise.
