Astro Bot is getting a surprise addition, potentially with mystery cameo bots

Astro Bot is getting another speed run level, it’s been revealed.

It was previously assumed that Team Asobi had concluded its planned free DLC releases for the PS5 platformer, following December’s Christmas level, however, it seems that Asobi isn’t done yet.

The game received five free speedrun stages as DLC, which were released weekly starting in mid-October.

Now, a new speed run level has been debuted during a PlayStation-held tournament over the weekend. Footage from the level, which you can see below, shows that it will use the time-stop power-up and the flower, which allows Astro to float higher in the air. It’s unknown when the level will be added to the game.

While the footage of the level doesn’t show it, it’s assumed that more cameo bots will appear when this level is added to the game, as was the case for previous speed run levels.

Mulitple cameo bots have been shown in concept art that have yet to make an appearance in the game, such as Tekken’s Heihachi, Fat Princess from Fat Princess, and Sweet Tooth from Twisted Metal.

There is also copyright information related to several Ubisoft properties in the credits of the game that have yet to result in corresponding cameo bots.

Many fans have pointed out that Astro Bot‘s level-select menu appears to feature a large blank space that looks like it should be filled with more levels, leading many to believe that more are on the way.

When VGC visited Team Asobi, we were told that the game initially planned for challenge levels to be added, as well as speed run levels, but it’s unclear if that is still the case.
