Assassin’s Creed Mirage has a ‘nostalgic’ blue filter which makes it look like the first game
Players can turn it on to make the game resemble the original Assassin’s Creed
Assassin’s Creed Mirage will have an optional filter that makes the game look more like the original Assassin’s Creed.
The new filter was shown off during a new behind-the-scenes video uploaded to Ubisoft‘s official YouTube channel.
In the video, creative director Stéphane Boudon calls Mirage “a love letter to the origins of the franchise, a coming of age story with rhythm mechanics to bring the feel of the early games into the modern day”.
As such, the game is expected to play more like the stealth-focused early Assassin’s Creed games than the more recent wide-scale, vastly open-world titles like Assassin’s Creed Odyssey and Assassin’s Creed Valhalla.
“We know how excited our community is,” Boudon says in the video. “We also have a nice surprise for our long-timers.
“We implemented a nostalgic visual filter as an option for those who wish to explore the game with the desaturated blue-grey colour palette from the very first Assassin’s Creed game.”
Announced last year, Assassin’s Creed Mirage takes place in 9th century Baghdad and is described as a “special tribute to the first Assassin’s Creed”.
Last month Ubisoft showed a new Assassin’s Creed Mirage gameplay video and confirmed that the game would be released on October 12.
The game is expected to be featured during the Ubisoft Forward showcase, which will take place on June 12 at 10am PT / 1pm ET / 6pm BST.
The show will also include the likes of Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Assassin’s Creed Mirage and The Crew: Motorfest.
Ubisoft also announced a new 2.5D Prince of Persia game this week, but it appears to have been met with a mostly negative response at this stage.
