As expected, it looks like Modern Warfare 3’s beta will come to PlayStation first

As expected, this year’s Call of Duty game, Modern Warfare 3, will have a public beta available first to PlayStation users.

That’s according to an Arabic trailer which appeared on the PlayStation YouTube channel, as translated and spotted by CharlieIntel.

Prior to the announcement of Microsoft’s intention to acquire Activision Blizzard, the company had already agreed to make another three Call of Duty games available on both PlayStation and Xbox consoles.

This year’s Call of Duty entry is the last title as part of Sony’s long-standing marketing agreement, according to court documents.

Following months of legal and regulatory challenges, Xbox announced last month that Microsoft and PlayStation had signed a binding agreement to keep Call of Duty on PlayStation following the acquisition of Activision Blizzard.

While little is known about the terms of the agreement, or how long it will last, it puts to bed one of the biggest hurdles in Microsoft’s prolonged acquisition of the Call of Duty publisher.

The European Commission approved Microsoft’s Activision Blizzard transaction in May, and last month Microsoft won a court case in the United States with antirust regulator the Federal Trade Commission, paving the way for the deal to close.
