Apex Legends Season 8 will include new character Fuse and a Kings Canyon overhaul
New content arrives in February
Apex Legends Season 8, titled Mayhem, will launch on February 2.
It will introduce the game’s 16th Legend, laid-back explosives enthusiast Fuse, who’s featured in the new trailer below.
“Fuse doesn’t lack confidence, but he often lacks a plan,” reads a description of the character on the game’s website. “He’s a blow-up-first ask-questions-later kinda guy.”
Season 8 will also include the 30-30 Repeater lever-action rifle, a new battle pass featuring over 100 items, and a major overhaul of the Kings Canyon map.
Its arrival is timed to coincide with the second anniversary of the free-to-play game’s launch.
Publisher EA claimed in October 2019 that Apex Legends had attracted over 70 million players since debuting on February 4, 2019.
Apex Legends Season 7, Ascension, launched in November 2020. It introduced new Legend Horizon and the game’s third major map, Olympus.
Season 7 debuted alongside the Steam version of the game and Apex Legends Champion Edition, which includes all Legends up to Season 7, seven exclusive legendary items, plus 1,000 Apex Coins for $39.99.
A Switch version of Apex Legends originally scheduled for release in 2020 is now set to arrive in 2021.
Apex Legends game director Chad Grenier has said developer Respawn regularly discusses taking the game in new directions and that it will “probably” expand “beyond battle royale” in the future.
