Apex Legends Season 15 release date, new trans hero, map and gifting feature revealed
Eclipse launches in November, adding new Legend Catalyst
Electronic Arts has announced the first details about Apex Legends Season 15 ahead of its launch next month.
Releasing on November 1, ‘Eclipse’ will introduce Apex Legend’s latest hero, a trans woman known as Catalyst, who’s the subject of the new trailer below.
“The experienced terraformer and defensive conjurer Tressa Smith uses her remarkable control of ferrofluid to manipulate the battlefield,” according to EA.
EA is also teasing a “stellar new map” for season 15. “In Boreas’ shadow, the newest home of the Apex Games gleams.”
Launching alongside Eclipse will be a new cross-platform gifting system. Players will be able to gift either single items or bundles of Legend and weapon skins, charms, and more.
They won’t be able to gift Apex Coins or Thematic Packs Collection Event Items, although the latter will be giftable following future updates.
To be able to gift, players must have login verification switched on, be at least account level 10, and be in-game friends with those they want to give to.
Over two years’ worth of new Apex Legends content reportedly leaked from a development build in March. It seemingly revealed nine new Legends, several of which have since been released, plus the ‘Divided Moon’ map, fresh weapons and heirlooms.
Apex Legends Season 14, Hunted, launched in August. It introduced new Legend Vantage, a major Kings Canyon map update and a long-requested level cap increase, among other features.
EA recently claimed Apex Legends has delivered over $2 billion in net bookings since its release in February 2019.
