Apex Legends players are reporting that their progress isn’t being saved
Numerous reports say XP, RP and badges earned are disappearing after logging off
A number of Apex Legends players have reported that the game isn’t saving their progress online.
In a new ‘mega thread’ that was started in the game’s bug reports forum over the weekend, hundreds of players have been posting claims that the game is failing to track any progress made, leaving them stuck at the same level.
According to various claims, any XP, Ranking Points or badges collected are disappearing, as if the game is rolling back to what the player’s status was before their session started.
“I gained over 750+ RP today but my account keeps getting reset,” explained one player. “I had a winning streak of +202’s then I restarted my application and I didn’t have any of those points apply.
“I also tried losing points intentionally and when I lost those points and reset the app I was still at a static 8938. I’m not sure how to fix the issue, but me and my friends have been chasing Predator and it’s very frustrating not being able to advance in the race.”
Another added: “I started the game today as usual and played for more than an hour. Closed the game and came back to find that everything was reset to the previous day’s progress, as if I didn’t play at all today. So I played again and closed my PS4 then wanted to play Apex again, to find out that I lost all the recent progress again, as if the game is stuck at yesterday and refused to track any new progress.”
EA‘s help account on Twitter has acknowledged the problem, saying it’s aware of the situation and currently investigating. No updates have been given, however.
One player in the big report thread appears to have figured out a temporary workaround, which involves equipping a Battle Pass skin. According to them, this should fix the issue until it’s properly resolved.
“What I did was equip one of the BP skins, because due to the glitch none of the BP skins were equipped but you still could see them (which made it glitch so hard)”, they claim. “When you do that, boom, your progress is saved and it will keep saving now. I didn’t got my progress back, though, I have to start again from where it got reset to begin with.”
Respawn said last week that it’s still planning to release a next-gen update for Apex Legends but isn’t yet ready to commit to a launch window.
While the battle royale shooter is playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backwards compatibility with a performance boost up to 1440p, publisher EA said last year that “more formal enhancements [were] planned” for 2021.
