Apex Legends videos show upcoming map changes
“Kings Canyon will never be the same” following beast invasion
Update 8.30pm, Thursday June 27: Apex Legends season 2 launch and gameplay trailers have now officially been released and can be viewed on this page.
Original story: Leaked Apex Legends trailers have revealed fresh details about the previously teased map changes coming to the game in July as part of its second season.
EA confirmed earlier this month that Apex Legends season 2, titled Battle Charge, will introduce a new Legend, a fresh weapon and a ranked mode, among other features.
The leaked trailers, which you can view on Reddit, have now also revealed the nature of the upcoming “map event” mentioned by executive producer Drew McCoy at EA Play 2019, and as previously rumoured, it’s centred on the alien wildlife found in Kings Canyon.
The detonation of an EMP within the map’s Repulsor tower causes it to collapse, enabling Leviathans and Flyers to invade the map. “The beasts have once again taken their native place on the island,” says a voice in the trailer. “Kings Canyon will never be the same.”
Set for release on July 2, Apex Legends season 2 will introduce new Legend Natalie ‘Wattson’ Paquette, a skilled engineer who built the Apex Games’ Modified Containment Ring.
It’ll also include a new weapon, Titanfall 2’s L-Star, which can be seen in action in the leaked trailers alongside some upcoming legendary skins and skydive emotes.
Respawn has also confirmed Apex Legends season 2 will feature daily and weekly challenges that contribute to a player’s levelling, and that the time to reach Battle Pass level 100 should overall be significantly reduced.
The studio is committed to the long haul with Apex Legends, according to executive producer McCoy, who says it never intends to make a sequel.
