Apex Legends introducing time-limited solos mode
Highly requested feature being trialled in mid-August
Respawn will introduce a time-limited Apex Legends solos mode on Tuesday August 13.
It will be available as part of the two-week Iron Crown Collection event coming to the battle royale game.
“We’ll talk more about Solos when it’s live and you’ve had a chance to play it,” Respawn community manager Jay Frechette said on Reddit. “For now we’re going to put it out there and see what happens and what kind of feedback we get.”
During EA’s first quarter earnings call in late July, CEO Andrew Wilson teased the upcoming event, noting that it would include “one of the most fan requested features since the launch of Apex”.
Apex Legends season 2, titled Battle Charge, launched on July 2. “To date it has outperformed our expectations with significant growth in daily and weekly active players,” Wilson said, adding that 8-10 million people are engaging with Apex Legends on a weekly basis.
Respawn recently outlined some of the “behind the scenes” work it’s doing to combat cheating in Apex Legends, which it acknowledges has become a “hot topic” following the launch of the game’s ranked mode with season 2.
Apex Legends season 3 will launch in EA’s next fiscal quarter beginning in October.
