Apex Legends hits Switch on February 2, according to Amazon Japan

Further evidence of an imminent release for the Nintendo Switch version of Apex Legends has emerged online.

Amazon Japan is currently listing Apex Champion Edition for Switch for release on February 2 – the same date that the battle royale game’s eighth season launches.

A February 2 Switch release date was also mentioned in the YouTube description of an Apex Legends trailer released earlier in January.

Electronic Arts hasn’t officially announced a release date for the game on Switch and didn’t respond to a request for comment when VGC asked about the date listed in the aforementioned trailer.

The publisher released a new gameplay trailer for Apex Legends Season 8 on Tuesday, showing off upcoming Legend Fuse and changes to the Kings Canyon map.

Titled Mayhem, Season 8 will debut almost exactly two years after the free-to-play shooter first launched on February 4, 2019.

Announced with the Steam version of Apex Legends, which arrived alongside Season 7 in November 2020, the Switch version of the game was also originally scheduled for release last fall.

However, EA delayed its launch to 2021 “in order to do justice to the game and make it into the great experience Switch players deserve”.

Developer Respawn has said the Switch version of Apex Legends will support cross-platform play and offer full feature parity with the other versions of the game.
