Animal Crossing, FIFA and The Last of Us topped European sales charts in the first half of 2020

Animal Crossing: New Horizons, FIFA 20 and The Last of Us Part 2 were among Europe’s best-selling physical games in the first half of 2020.

That’s according to information published by official charts and market research data supplier GfK Entertainment.

From January to June, Nintendo’s Switch exclusive Animal Crossing: New Horizons was the top-selling boxed game in Austria, Belgium, France,
Germany, Netherlands, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

During the same period, EA’s football game was the top-selling title in Denmark, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russia, and Spain.

Sony’s The Last of Us Part 2 topped the sales charts in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, and Sweden, while Minecraft was No.1 in Finland and Grand Theft Auto V took the top spot in Hungary.

FIFA 19 and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe were Europe’s best-selling physical games in the first half of 2019, while FIFA 20, which released in September, was Europe’s best-selling game of last year. FIFA 2021 releases this October.

March 2020 release Animal Crossing: New Horizons sold 13 million copies in its first six weeks of availability, while June release The Last of Us Part 2 sold four million copies in its first three days, making it the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive to date.
