Update - Official announcement
Marvel has officially announced its Captain America and Black Panther game from Skydance New Media.
The game, which is scheduled to be revealed during a Disney and Marvel showcase today, is the first title from Skydance New Media, a studio formed in 2019 by Hollywood production company Skydance.
Announced last October, the title is billed as “a narrative-driven, blockbuster action-adventure game, featuring a completely original story and take on the Marvel Universe”.
“I can’t imagine a better partner than Marvel for our first game,” said studio president Hennig, who previously spent a decade at Naughty Dog, where she was the creative director and lead writer of Sony’s Uncharted series.
“The Marvel Universe epitomizes all the action, mystery and thrills of the pulp adventure genre that I adore and lends itself perfectly to an interactive experience.
“It’s an honor to be able to tell an original story with all the humanity, complexity, and humor that makes Marvel characters so enduring and to enable our players to embody these heroes that they love.”
In April, Skydance New Media and Lucasfilm Games also announced a new narrative-driven, action-adventure game featuring an original story in the Star Wars galaxy.
Friday’s Disney & Marvel Games showcase kicks off at 1pm PT / 9pm BST. It will include content from Disney & Pixar Games, Marvel Games, Lucasfilm Games, and 20th Century Games.
