Alan Wake 2’s New Game Plus mode will include a ‘new alternative narrative’
It will arrive in a post-launch update
Alan Wake 2 will receive a New Game Plus mode in a post-launch update.
Developer Remedy confirmed plans for the mode on Wednesday ahead of the game’s release later this week.
The sequel’s New Game Plus mode will enable players to retain all unlocked weapons and upgrades.
It will also introduce a new Nightmare difficulty level and a “new alternative narrative, including new Manuscript pages and new video content”.
Remedy said the update’s “exact release timing [is] still TBD.”
Previously scheduled to launch on October 17, Alan Wake 2 will now be released on October 27 for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC via the Epic Games Store.
Remedy decided to hold the game back for 10 days so it wouldn’t clash with other big October releases such as Super Mario Bros. Wonder and Spider-Man 2.
The game’s delay was originally going to place its release just two days after another high-profile survival horror game, a reboot of Alone in the Dark.
However, last month publisher THQ Nordic announced that Alone in the Dark had been delayed until January 2024, also to avoid the busy October release schedule.
Alan Wake 2’s post-launch plans include “pretty significant” DLC too, according to creative director Sam Lake.
