After its TikTok ban outage, Marvel Snap is giving players big compensation

Marvel Snap is giving both US and non-US players compensation following last week’s outage.

In the days leading up to Donald Trump’s inauguration as U.S. president, the Supreme Court decided to uphold a decision to ban TikTok. As a result, TikTok was taken offline in the U.S. last weekend, along with other apps owned by its developer ByteDance.

One of these apps was Marvel Snap, which was published by ByteDance’s game publishing label Nuverse. Following this outage, developer Second Dinner has announced a large compensation package to apologize to players impacted by the ban.

Not only this, players outside of the affected region will also receive a “gratitude package” with in-game items. The level of compensation will be dictated by what level a player is, and their location, with US and non-US players receiving slightly different rewards.

Second Dinner also said that players who used a VPN to play the game while the outage was taking place would still receive compensation.

Following the outage, developer Second Dinner said it was working to bring more services in-house and to find a new publisher for the game.
