Activision releases ‘raw’ 4K Modern Warfare gameplay
Gunfight mode shown running on PS4 Pro
Activision has released direct-feed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare gameplay showing the game’s new Gunfight mode.
The video – which Activision says was captured in 4K on PlayStation 4 Pro – follows the 2v2 multiplayer mode’s unveiling in a live stream last week.
Gunfight features 2v2 matches across a series of small, confined maps that are custom-built for the mode. Activision describes the mode as “multi-round cage matches” in which players have the same loadout, which switches every two rounds.
Rounds last for 40 seconds, followed by a capture the flag-based overtime period if one or more players from each team are still alive when the time expires.
Set for release in October, Modern Warfare will feature a unified narrative experience and progression across the whole game including campaign, multiplayer and Spec-Ops co-op missions.
For the first time in the series PC and console players will be able to play together online via cross-platform play, while the game will ditch the franchise’s traditional season pass “in order to deliver a greater mix of more free maps, content and community events post-launch”.
A full online reveal is set to take place on Thursday, August 1.
