A Super Mario Bros. Wonder Nintendo Direct live stream is coming this week
The presentation will offer an in-depth look at the 2D platformer
A Nintendo Direct live stream focused on Super Mario Bros. Wonder will air this week, and you’ll be able to watch it above.
Taking place on August 31 at 7am PT / 10am ET / 3pm BST / 4pm CEST, the 15-minute presentation will provide an in-depth look at the upcoming Switch exclusive ahead of its release on October 20.
Announced in June, Super Mario Bros. Wonder is the first original 2D Mario side-scrolling game in over a decade. Its new gimmick is the Wonder Flower, which transforms each stage in a different way.
“When you touch a Wonder Flower in the game, the wonders of the world unlock – pipes could come alive, hordes of enemies may appear, characters might change their looks, for example – transforming the gameplay in unpredictable ways. Excitement and different surprises await in each course,” reads Nintendo‘s description of the game.
“Super Mario Bros. Wonder features Princess Peach, Princess Daisy and Yoshi as playable characters, in addition to familiar characters like Mario, Luigi and Toad.
“Plus, Super Mario Bros. Wonder sees the debut of Mario’s newest power-up, which allows him to transform into Elephant Mario! What other wonders could this game contain? More details will be shared at a later time, so please look forward to it.”
The last completely original 2D Mario game was 2012’s New Super Mario Bros. U. It was ported to Switch in 2019 as New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe.
