A special ‘Directer’s Cut’ of Vampire Survivors reportedly exists
The special edition is “drastically different” from the base game
A special edition of Vampire Survivors called the ‘Directer’s Cut’ has emerged from a new report.
Author and accessibility consultant Laura Kate Dale tweeted that she had attended an event for the game’s upcoming co-op mode, and was “pulled aside” to look at a different version of the game.
The Directer’s Cut title isn’t a typo – it refers to a character called the Directer, a hidden final boss who appears in the Vampire Survivors endgame.
According to Dale, the new version features “wild new characters, stages, weapons, accessories and evolutions”.
The new characters include a “multi-limbed angel, a rose woman, an imp, Santa, werewolf, spaceman, big skull, constellation frog angel, and winged egg,” she wrote.
She also provided video evidence of the game, and stated that she believes she’s the only person who was invited it try it out.
“I was not told this is a for sale product, I was simply plucked out the room and placed in front of this,” Dale explains.
Vampire Survivors is set to be released on Nintendo Switch on August 17, and will feature local co-op for up to four players (hence the event Dale attended). All other versions of the game will receive the co-op option on the same date.
Vampire Survivors is a roeguelike shoot ’em up which sees players choosing one of numerous characters, who then automatically attack as the player fights through waves of monsters with the aim being to survive for as long as possible.
The games has enjoyed widespread critical success, and won the Best Game and Best Design prizes at the BAFTA Games Awards in March.
