A Prince of Persia roguelite from Dead Cells studio Evil Empire has been announced
The Rogue Prince of Persia hits Steam Early Access next month
A Prince of Persia roguelite from Dead Cells developer Evil Empire has been revealed.
Announced during the Triple-i Initiative showcase on Wednesday, the 2D action-platforming game will be released on May 14, 2024, via Steam Early Access.
“Jump into this action roguelite installment in the Prince of Persia series as you flow between death-defying platforming and acrobatic combat as the Prince himself,” reads a description on the game.
“Battle through the capital city again and again with one goal – find a way to save Persia from a Hun invasion wielding dark magic.”
Ubisoft said that Evil Empire, a French indie studio that worked on post-launch content for Dead Cells over five years, approached the IP holder with its own idea for working on the long-running series.
“To master the platforming sections, players will have to use the iconic wall run, allowing them to easily cross gaps, avoid traps and outmanoeuvre enemies,” according to the game’s publisher.
“From the aqueduct to the grand academy, by way of the wild gardens, the Prince must use all his acrobatic skills to safely find a route through procedurally generated levels made of a variety of colourful biomes, inspired by Persian architecture.
“On top of all the environmental hazards players will have to deal with, they must fight through various enemies, both Huns wielding the dark shamanic magic and creatures corrupted by its influence.
“Plenty of options are available, to suit all playstyles, from twin daggers to spears, broad swords, and axes. Secondary weapons open the combat even further, with a choice of shields, bows, grappling hooks and more!”
Over time, new levels, bosses, weapons, enemies, and upgrades will be released for the game, plus additions based on community feedback.
