A ‘Nocturnal Vapor’ Xbox Series X/S controller has seemingly leaked
The pad will reportedly be released in April
A new Xbox Series X/S wireless controller has seemingly leaked ahead of an official announcement.
According to ever-reliable dataminer billbil-kun, Microsoft will release a third controller in its ‘Vapor’ series next month.
Following the release of Stormcloud Vapor and Dream Vapor pads, Nocturnal Vapor will reportedly be released on April 9, with an official announcement and pre-orders likely to go live a week earlier.
The controller is expected to be priced at $69.99 / £64.99 / €69.99.
Microsoft launched the Vapor series of Xbox Design Lab custom controllers in January, including Nocturnal Vapor, which is dark green and grey in colour.
The next evolution of the Xbox controller could feature improved haptic feedback, an accelerometer, and a rechargeable and replaceable battery.
While Microsoft’s plans may have changed, a controller codenamed Sebile leaked last September via unredacted court documents published accidently, including one titled ‘Roadmap to 2030’.
It included information on Microsoft’s mid-generation console refresh, which said an ”adorably all digital” Xbox Series X console codenamed ‘Brooklin’ would come with an “all-new, more immersive controller”.
During a business update in February, Xbox confirmed that Series X/S won’t be the company’s last consoles.
“There’s some exciting stuff coming out in hardware that we’re going to share this holiday, and we’re also invested in the next generation roadmap,” said Xbox president Sarah Bond.
“And what we’re really focused on there is delivering the largest technical leap you will have ever seen in a hardware generation”.
