A NieR related reveal looks set for this weekend’s Automata Fan Fest
UPDATE: The reveal turns out to be a sales update for Automata
It appears that something Nier-related is set to be revealed at the Automata Fan Festival taking place this weekend in Japan.
YouTuber Yosuke Saito posted a photo on Twitter that appears to show part of the stage for the event, with a section apparently covered up.
The stage shows the logos for NieR Replicant (which was originally released in 2010 before being remastered in 2021) and NieR: Automata, but next to these is a large black panel which appears to be covering something.

It turns out the reveal was simply a sales milestone for Automata, which has cleared 7 million sales, according to Square Enix.
It’s not clear what it could be hiding (if indeed anything at all), but the photo has naturally kicked off speculation on social media.
Some seem to believe the panel is covering the logo of a brand new NieR game, while others believe it could be the logo for the upcoming Nier: Automata Ver1.1a anime set to premiere in January.
However, NieR writer and director Yoko Taro is known for his eccentricity (as demonstrated by NieR: Automata’s unconventional game design), so there’s also every chance there’s nothing under the panel at all.
The NieR: Automata Fan Festival takes place on November 25 and 26 at the Tokyo Garden Theater in Japan.
The event will feature two stages: a ‘talk stage’ where a series of discussions will take place involving developers (including Taro) and voice actors, and a concert stage where music from the NieR games will be performed.
Fans can stream the second day of the event, but need to purchase tickets priced ¥5000 ($35) to do so.

The last notable NieR release was a port of NieR: Automata, subtitled The End of Yorha Edition, which was released on Switch in October.
Developed by PlatinumGames and published by Square Enix, Nier: Automata was originally released for PS4 and PC in 2017, before making its way to Xbox One in 2018.
