A new South Park game is in development, creators confirm
The new game is in development at Trey Parker and Matt Stone’s internal studio
South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone are working on a new “3D video game”.
That’s according to a Bloomberg report detailing the pair’s new $900 Million Deal With ViacomCBS. According to a separate note from the publication, citing an email from Matt Stone, the new game is in development at he and Parker’s in-house studio.
The previous two South Park video games, The Stick of Truth (2014) and The Fractured but Whole (2017), were developed in collaboration with Ubisoft. The latter was created by The Outer Worlds developer Obsidian.
The two games were well received and currently have Metacritic scores of up to 85 and 84.
South Park Digital Studios has collaborated on various video game projects in addition to the aforementioned RPGs.
In 2017 it released the mobile title Phone Destroyer, which followed up 2014’s South Park Pinball and Xbox Live Arcade titles Let’s Go Tower Defense Play! And Tenorman’s Revenge.
The first South Park video game was 1998’s Nintendo 64 first-person shooter, which was developed by Iguana Entertainment (Turok) and published by Acclaim. A racing game, South Park Rally, was released for Dreamcast, N64, PlayStation and PC in 1999.
