A new Nintendo Switch Mario bundle will reportedly include a movie bonus

Nintendo will reportedly launch a Super Mario Odyssey Switch hardware bundle next month.

That’s according to highly reliable leaker billbil-kun, who claims the €269 ($287) bundle will launch in France on March 10, which is when Nintendo celebrates Mario Day (Mar10).

It’s said to include a previously released standard Switch console with red Joy-Cons, a digital code for Mario Odyssey, and something related to the Super Mario Bros. Movie, which hits cinemas in late March.

It’s unclear what the movie tie-in will be, but vouchers for cinema tickets is one possibility.

Update

The Nintend’Alerts Twitter account has posted what appears to be an image of the bundle showing new packaging and the inclusion of Super Mario Bros. movie stickers.

Mario Odyssey was released in 2017 and has sold over 25 million copies, according to Nintendo.

Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto recently said Nintendo isn’t ready to end fans’ wait for news about a fresh entry in the company’s flagship franchise.

In an IGN interview, he was asked why a new Mario game hadn’t been announced to coincide with this month’s opening of America’s first Super Nintendo World or the Mario movie

“We’re always working on Mario, so when we get to a time where we can share information, we’ll certainly do so,” Nintendo representative director Miyamoto replied.

Nintendo may also be gearing up to launch a Zelda-themed Switch OLED console to coincide with The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom‘s release in May.
