‘A new era’ for Bungie and Destiny 2 on the horizon
Studio to reveal plans following launch of shooter’s latest season in June
Bungie and Destiny 2 are approaching the dawn of “a new era”, with the studio planning to share details about its future following the launch of the game’s upcoming season of content.
Destiny 2’s Season of Opulence will launch on Tuesday June 4, with a new raid, titled Crown of Sorrow, available to annual pass owners on the same day. It’ll go live at 4pm PDT and is recommended for players at power level 715.
In an update setting the stage for the new season’s arrival, Bungie communications manager David Dague also touched on the studio’s future.
“Right now, our focus is on Opulence,” he said on Bungie’s site. “But after the Season has launched and Raid belts have been awarded, we’ll be looking deeper into the future, and sharing with you more about a new era for Bungie and Destiny 2.”
According to Bungie, Destiny delivered a combination of over 50 million games and expansions to players under the watch of its former publisher Activision.
Bungie announced in January that it was ending its eight-year partnership with Activision and acquiring the publishing rights for Destiny, giving it control over the future of the MMO shooter series.
