A Kirby 30th anniversary concert has been announced

A Kirby concert is being held later this year to celebrate the franchise’s 30th anniversary.

The Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Fest will take place at Tokyo Garden Theatre on August 11.

The event will start at 6pm JST / 2am PT / 5am ET / 10am BST and will be live streamed worldwide free of charge.

“To commemorate the 30th anniversary of Kirby, a one-time-only music festival will be held featuring a large big band-style ensemble of 35 musicians performing in a variety of genres,” according to the event’s official website.

“This event is a musical event in which you can enjoy original medleys of songs from past titles in the series while reminiscing on your memories with them. A large LED monitor at the venue will also feature a moving Kirby!”

The next entry in the Kirby series, which is developed by HAL Laboratory and published by Nintendo, will be released on March 25.

Titled Kirby and the Forgotten Land, it sees Kirby team up with new friend Elfilin to save the Waddle Dees, who have been kidnapped by a group of villains called the Beast Pack.

Rather than the typical 2D side-scrolling platforming Kirby is known for, Forgotten Land lets players move freely around 3D arenas using familiar Kirby copy abilities.

A Kirby and the Forgotten Land demo, which lets players sample three levels from the game’s first world, was released earlier this month.
