A free demo for C-Smash VRS New Dimension is out today on PS5
Owners of the PS VR2 version of the game will get the PS5 update for free
C-Smash VRS New Dimension, the 2D version of C-Smash VRS, is getting a free demo on PS5 later today.
The demo features the brand-new Time Attack mode, which will include global leaderboards, as well as a tutorial.
The game is available for pre-order now for a discounted price. On September 26, existing players of the PS VR2 game will receive the PS5 game as a free update.
C-Smash VRS New Dimension will introduce Hybrid Multiplayer, inviting PS VR2 players to play with PS5 players across formats, which developer RapidEyeMovers claims is a first for a sports title in the VR space.
“There is something magical about seeing one player moving their whole body on one side, while the other pulls off crazy moves like wall jumps on a PlayStation Portal, for instance,” says RapidEyeMovers’ Director Jörg Tittel. “PS VR2 and PS5 players will each have their unique advantages, but anyone will be able to play and win at the end of the month!”
A reimagining of Sega‘s arcade and Dreamcast classic Cosmic Smash, C-Smash VRS is a futuristic sports game which combines squash with block-breaking games like Breakout.
C-Smash VRS features original tracks by DJ Ken Ishii (Rez Infinite), synth master Danalogue (The Comet is Coming) and UK music veterans UNKLE.
VGC’s review of the PlayStation VR2 version of C-Smash VR said the game is “a must-buy for PSVR2 owners”.
“Massively stylish and utterly engrossing, we found ourselves taken by the game’s simple, yet refined mechanics,” we wrote. “Sure, you need plenty of space, but that’s the case for a number of true VR greats, among which C-Smash VR numbers.
“C-Smash VR is engaging, exhausting, and exhilarating. A VR staple that we’ll be showing friends for years, it nails the aesthetics, gameplay, and most importantly, the vibe of everything that’s great about VR.”
