A Braid remaster will release in 2021 with new visuals

New backgrounds, animations and more

Developer Thekla has announced a remaster of 2008 platformer puzzle game Braid, set to release in 2021.

Braid: Anniversary Edition will feature totally redrawn backgrounds, new animations and a director’s commentary which its creators say is aiming to be “the best in any game.”

Designed by Jonathan Blow, Braid was originally released in August 2008 for the Xbox 360‘s Xbox Live Arcade service, later coming to PC and PlayStation 3.

Blow self-funded the project, working with Webcomic artist David Hellman to develop the artwork.

Braid was awarded the “Casual Game of the Year” at the 12th Annual Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences Awards.
