8-player online and couch co-op coming to Luigi’s Mansion 3

Still no release date, though

Luigi’s Mansion 3 will feature eight-player couch and online co-op.

The news came via today’s Nintendo E3 briefing, during which a new gameplay trailer also gave us a peek at some of Luigi’s skills – such as Suction Shot – as well as introduced us to Gooigi, a gooey version of Luigi who can slide through fences and step across spikes that are inaccessible for Luigi himself.

“Luigi embarks on a dream vacation with Mario and friends,” Nintendo said via its press release. “However, his dream quickly becomes a nightmare. With the assistance of Professor E. Gadd once again, the reluctant and cowardly hero Luigi traverses up and down a mysterious hotel with floors that are completely different from one another.

“Wield the upgraded Poltergust G-00 to slam and blow away the ghosts’ defences, or summon Gooigi, an all-green doppelganger that can help Luigi overcome obstacles he can’t get past alone. ScareScraper mode can be played online or locally with up to eight players on four Nintendo Switch consoles.”

To access online modes, players will need to have a paid online membership to Nintendo Switch Online.

As yet there’s still no release date confirmed – Nintendo only reaffirmed it would release later this year.
