3DO horror comedy FPS Killing Time is being remastered by Nightdive Studios
Killing Time: Resurrected will be released on all formats later this year
Horror comedy first-person shooter Killing Time is the latest game confirmed to be getting a remaster by retro specialist Nightdive Studios.
The game was originally released on the 3DO in 1995, before getting a PC release in 1996.
Now, nearly 30 years later, it’s getting remastered for modern platforms under the name Killing Time: Resurrected.
The game puts players in the role of an Egyptology student, who finds themselves trapped in the large estate of a wealthy heiress called Tess Conway.
Mrs Conway wanted to crack the secret to eternal life but it went wrong, so the estate is now riddled with supernatural enemies.
Killing Time: Resurrected lets players toggle between the original character artwork and sprites, and new high resolution versions.
It also features upscaled environmental texturing, smoother gameplay, more responsive controls and expanded control and key-bind settings.
The game will be released later this year on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch, PS4, Xbox One and PC (via Steam and GOG).
Nightdive Studios specialises in remastering retro games which are no longer easily playable on modern hardware.
Previous HD remasters released by Nightdive include the Turok trilogy, System Shock, Forsaken, Doom 64, Quake, Quake 2, Shadow Man, PowerSlave / Exhumed, Blade Runner and Rise of the Triad.
On April Fool’s Day, it revealed that it was releasing a remaster of PO’ed, another 3DO comedy FPS.
However, the next day the game was listed for pre-order on Steam and GOG, with Nightdive revealing that it wasn’t an April Fool’s joke and is actally coming later this year.
