The game will be released in both a standard and deluxe edition next year
2K and Firaxis have debuted the first look at Civilization VII.
The game will be released on February 11, 2025, the pair announced at Gamescom on Tuesday.
The game will be available in Standard and Deluxe editions. The Deluxe Edition will include five days of early access, enabling buyers to start playing from February 6.
“With more than 30 years of franchise legacy to draw from, Civilization VII features a vast wealth of gameplay improvements that will thrill series veterans and newcomers alike,” reads a press release for the game.
“The overhauled tutorial experience and refined gameplay systems make jumping into Civilization easier than ever, while returning players will appreciate a massive suite of gameplay improvements. Move your army as one under the leadership of a commander, unlock progression bonuses for your leaders across multiple gameplay sessions, traverse navigable rivers, and much, much more!”
The Standard Edition will cost $69.99 on PS5 and Xbox, and $59.99 on Switch, with the Deluxe Edition priced at $99.99 on PS5 and Xbox, and $89.99 on Switch.
Shortly after Opening Night Live finishes, 2K and developer Firaxis will host their own Gameplay Showcase video on the Firaxis Twitch channel and the official Civilization YouTube channel.
This showcase will start at 1.30pm PT / 6.30pm ET / 9.30pm BST and last for over 20 minutes, with 2K promising “exclusive insights and deep dives across new features and innovations”.
Players attending Gamescom on August 21-25 will then be able to see the game in action at the official Civilization VII booth in Hall 6.
