To make your farm look as picturesque as you’ve always imagined, you’ll likely want to know how to move the Farmhouse in Stardew Valley.  The long-requested feature for the indie farming RPG has finally been added as the title inches closer to its 10-year anniversary, but finding it can be a little confusing.

There are limits to the feature added in the Stardew Valley 1.6 update, so that’s what we’re going to cover down below. We’ll walk you through how to move your house on the farm, the steps you’ll need to take to start the process, the cost, and the few limitations you’ll have to take into account.

How to move the Farmhouse in Stardew Valley

From Stardew Valley 1.6 onward, you can move the Farmhouse to any spot of your choosing on the farm. To put in the request to move the Farmhouse, you first need to decide where you want to move it to.

Once you’ve figured out the perfect spot, clear it out by removing any trees, weeds, and other buildings. The spot needs to be completely empty and free of obstacles.

When you’re ready to move the Farmhouse, head to Robin’s Carpenter’s Shop and select the Construct Farm Buildings option when speaking to her.

On this screen, click the Move Buildings icon (the one with four diagonal arrows) to bring up a bird’s eye view of the farm map.

Pan the camera to your home, click to remove it, then hover the resulting grid over to your new Farmhouse location before clicking again to confirm the move.

Once you’re happy with its placement, exit the menu using the button in the bottom-right of the screen.

How long does it take to move the Farmhouse in Stardew Valley?

The buildings move immediately – you don’t need to wait a day or two like when you construct something new.

How much does it cost to move the Farmhouse?

It doesn’t cost a penny to move the Farmhouse in Stardew Valley. So long as you can enter the shop and speak to Robin, you’ll be able to move the Farmhouse without any sort of fee or resource cost.

You can use this feature to move any constructed building on your farm in the same way at the same time. It’s an option that’s been around since the 1.5 update back in 2022, but moving the Farmhouse was only added as an option in 1.6 on March 19, 2024.

Can I move the Stardew Valley Farmhouse on mobile or console?

The feature could be ported to other platforms at a later date, but the Stardew Valley 1.6 update doesn’t have a release date for platforms other than PC, making it impossible to move the farmhouse on consoles or mobile at this time.
