Pokemon TCG Pocket events – How to get Promo Pack A cards

Pokemon TCG Pocket events are overlapping already, setting the scene for resource-demanding promo cards and goals to chip away at.

Events in Pokemon Pocket can take place across many of its games and features. Wonder Pick and Solo Battle have both hosted events within the game’s first week or release, with room for online battle events presumably in place for the future.

How to get Pokemon Pocket Promo A packs from the Lapras event

Launched on November 5 and coinciding with the Chansey Pick event, the Lapras EX Drop Event is the first battle-oriented and pack “drop” event to hit Pokemon TCG Pocket. It ends on November 18.

It challenges you to battle against a Lapras deck with four difficulty levels, with the rewards ranging from Shinedust and Shop Tokens to single-card promo packs with a tiny card pool to pull from.

How to start the Lapras EX event and earn Promo Pack A cards

To join the Lapras EX Drop Event, open the Battle menu from the bottom. Tap Solo and you’ll see the Lapras challenge at the top of the decks you can duel against. Beat one deck to unlock the next.

No matter the difficulty you play, you’ll have a chance to get a Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1 as a victory reward. The chance of a pack dropping hasn’t been revealed, but we got one from our first win against both the Advanced and Expert Lapras EX decks.

If earned, you’ll find the Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1 in the Presents menu on the main screen. Just tap the Presents icon at the top. You’ll be prompted to open the pack when you claim it.

The Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1 pack includes one of the following cards:

• Lapras EX
• Butterfree
• Pikachu
• Mankey
• Clefairy

With all five possibilities being Kanto Pokemon, The Lapras EX event and its promo packs can be a decent way to plug any gaps you have in your Kanto collection, putting you one step closer to a secret card.

The odds of pulling a specific card from Promo Pack A Series Vol. 1 aren’t displayed in-game.

How to get more Event Stamina in Pokemon TCG Pocket

Taking part in a Battle Event requires Event Stamina, with each difficulty taking just one of your five potential Event Stamina tokens.

Once your Event Stamina runs dry, you’ll need to wait 12 hours to recover just one.

To hit the 20+ battle requirement to complete every Lapras EX event goal, you’ll likely need to use Event Hourglasses.

You can get 15 Event Hourglasses by completing the five Battle Tasks across the Beginner and Intermediate Lapras battles.

How to beat the Lapras EX Expert deck

So long as you’re not going for specific mission rewards, you can beat the Lapras EX deck at the Expert difficulty level with common cards like Zapdos, Zebstrika, X Speed, and Meowth.

Here’s the deck we used to beat the top-difficulty Lapras/Starmie EX event deck:

• Eelektross
• Eelektric
• Tynamo
• Blitzle (x2)
• Pinkurchin (x2)
• Farfetch’d
• Meowth
• X Speed (x2)
• Poke Ball (x2)
• Professor’s Research (x2)
• Giovanni

In our run, the computer started with a Lapras EX and added another and a Starmine EX within the first couple of turns.

Because of Lapras’ high energy requirement, the computer might decide to add energy to more manageable benched Pokemon like Seaking or Golduck instead.

In this case, you can rely on Zebstrika to deal damage to the bench with a single energy, dealing with the Pokemon they attempt to power up while their Lapras EX is both unable to attack or retreat.

As you chip away with Zebstrika, build up Zapdos until it’s ready to rock. Use X Speed to swap out for free to deal the finishing blow.

If you’ve built up your bench, carefully choose who to damage with Zapdos’ recoil to ensure you don’t give up a point for nothing.

Using X Speed to swap to something like Eelektric can help you deal good damage without risking it all. Just be sure to manage your bench.

You can avoid the damage by keeping it empty, but you’ll lose immediately if Zapdos suddenly falls.
