Monster Hunter Wilds Pop Up Camps – How to use a pop up camp
Pop-up camps in Monster Hunter Wilds are an essential mechanic you need to master

Monster Hunter Wilds pop-up camps are a great way to change your equipment and refuel when you’re out in the wilds. Not only that, they become portable home bases, meaning that if you find a spot where your Palico suggests you should build a pop-up camp, we highly recommend it.
In this guide, we’ll explain how pop-up camps work in Monster Hunter Wilds, how to deploy Monster Hunter Wilds pop-up camps, and what things you aren’t able to do in pop-up camps, and instead have to go back to the base camp of the area.
You’ve probably heard one of the NPCs in Monster Hunter Wilds remark that a certain area is perfect for a pop-up camp, well in this guide we’ll tell you all you need to know, so you’re making the most out of this helpful, but somewhat less obvious Monster Hunter Wilds mechanic.
Monster Hunter Wilds Pop-Up Camps: How to set up a camp

If you’ve played Monster Hunter Wilds for any length of time, then you’ve probably heard lots of mentions of pop-up camps. This mechanic is an amazing feature in the game in terms of quality of life, because the pop-up camp can be used for fast travel, as a respawn point, and more.
As such, you’re going to want to start setting them up as quickly as possible, as doing so means that during a longer hunt, if you are defeated and sent packing, you’ll reappear much closer to the monster, which is essential due to the fact that when you’re running back to the monster, time-sensitive events like traps could still trigger, and you’d completely lose the ability to use them.
Pop-up camps in Monster Hunter Wilds are also a must-have if you’re playing as a gun-wielding character, as the pop-up camp will allow you to replenish you ammo from your main supply.
The only limitation we’ve found with the pop-up camps so far is that in order to unlock more slots in the game world to set up the pop-up camps, you have to progress the story.
The small campsite indicator on the map shows spots where pop-up camps can be set up. This indicator also tells you whether or not you’ve set up a camp there. If you have, you’ll be able to fast-travel to the area; if not, you have to proceed on foot or on Seikret.
To set up a pop-up camp in Monster Hunter Wilds, you have to find a campsite and make sure your camping tool is in your L1/LB inventory menu. Navigate to the camping tool, and then press the action button to activate it. The game will then give you an outline of where the camp is going to be set, and if it is a safe area or not.
From there, it will be set up instantly, and you can enjoy all the benefits of using a pop-up camp in Monster Hunter Wilds.
