Madusa Method odds Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: What is the Masuda Method?

Madusa Method odds Pokemon Scarlet and Violet: Masuda Method explained

The Masuda Method, named after Pokemon boss Junichi Masuda, involves breeding two Pokemon from different language versions of the games. This means, for example, breeding a Pokemon caught in the English language release of the game, with a Pokemon caught in the Japanese release.

Doing this will dramatically increase the odds that a Pokemon is shiny, and as such, has become one of the most popular breeding methods in the Shiny Pokemon hunting community.

The most popular foreign Pokemon to get is Ditto, for obvious reasons. As Ditto can breed with any Pokemon, a foreign Ditto is very desirable, thankfully there’s a whole community of players willing to trade them if you’re patient.

Since Link Trading was added to Pokemon, there has been a community of players trading foreign Dittos for this exact reason.

If you want a foreign Ditto, head to the link trading screen and Masuda Ditto link code – 4448 4448.

Now, there are hundreds, and at peak times, thousands of players doing the same thing. MAKE SURE THE LANGUAGE CODE IS DIFFERENT FROM YOURS.

You’ll see above that our Ditto is from the Spanish version of the game, as indicated by the “SP-EU” tag. As long as that tag doesn’t match your local region, then that’s a Masuda Ditto. You can check this by examining the summary screen of the Pokemon you’re trading with on the Link trade menu.
