As part of the tutorial area, the game will actually point you in the direction of warm clothes.

The Archaic Warm Greaves are found near the shrine which teaches you the Ascend ability. The Gutanbac Shrine is very fast, and after you’ve completed it, you should head to the giant tree stump located conveniently next to it.

Once again use the Ascend ability and head up to the platform. You’ll then find a small treasure chest that has the Archaic Warm Greaves, the first warm clothes you’ll find in the game.

While most sets of armor in the game are made up of three pieces, and you might expect that the Archaic Warm Greaves would follow the same pattern, this isn’t the case.

In fact, there is no Archaic Warm helm or Archaic Warm tunic, as the Archaic Warm Greaves is actually an alternate part of the set with the Archaic Warm tunic.

Zelda Tears of the Kingdom guide: Food with cold resistance

How to get warm clothes in Zelda Tears of the Kingdom

The most effective way to stay warm when you’re visiting the colder areas of the game is by utilizing the peppers that are found frequently around the opening area of the game.

You’ll also likely find them in the surrounding fields of any area which will cause the “unbearable cold,” status effect, as this is supposed to teach you that there are multiple ways to tackle the game’s environmental puzzles.

These are found on small trees, however, don’t confuse them with the fire fruit, which looks very similar for reasons that we can only assume were intentionally devious. Another distinction is that while attaching a fire fruit to an arrow will cause that arrow to become flaming, this isn’t the case with the peppers.

Once you have some peppers, you’re going to want to head to any town that has a pot for you to cook in. Small outposts also have these pots, and there’s even a portable pot Zonai machine that you should unlock later on. You can check on the map if you have unlocked any Zonai dispensers that have the portable pot in their inventory.

Cooking five peppers together will give you a meal that allows for cold resistance for 12 minutes.
