If you don’t know what a whirlpool is in Fisch or even know the distinction between it and a Strange Whirlpool, you’re probably not ready to take on that particular part of the adventure. But we can help you prepare.

What do Whirlpools do in Fisch?

As you’re sailing around the waters of Fisch, you’ll often come across whirlpools quietly going about their business.

They’re not massively aggressive. They won’t draw you in like a black hole if you get too close, and they’re easily avoided. But avoid is what you’ll want to do in most cases.

That’s because Fisch whirlpools are deadly. If you disembark from your boat and decide to swim into one, you’ll get sucked underwater with no way to escape. Your boat can park on top of them, but you can’t.

Even with the Diving Gear equipped, you’ll run out of oxygen before you can swim out. In fact, you can’t swim while you’re in one.

That means certain doom. Enter one and you’ll see a death message saying how the game is meant to be relaxing before you’re turfed back to your chosen Fisch spawn point.

But that’s a regular, everyday whirlpool. Strange Whirlpools work differently.

What is a Strange Whirlpool in Fisch?

The emergence of a Strange Whirlpool is communicated via a server announcement that reads ” A Strange Whirlpool has opened.” You’ll often spot these at the top of the screen with a little chime sound.

If you notice the arrival of a Strange Whirlpool, that’s a sign to get on your boat–which is the opposite advice for a regular whirlpool.

Strange Whirlpools act as an entrance to Vertigo–a special, underwater cavern with some unique fish, rewards, and some of the best rods in the game. Just jump into a Strange Whirlpool to wind up there.

Finding a Strange Whirlpool can be tricky, though. The only difference between it and a regular whirlpool is the beacon of light shooting up from it. Keep an eye out for that.

The game also won’t tell you where it has spawned. Sail the seas or communicate with others on the server to find it.

Another way to confirm whether a Fisch whirlpool is deadly or safe is to use the Fish Radar.

Strange Whirlpools cause an abundance of Isonade–the only way to find this near-extinct species.
