How to get the Krampus Rod in Fisch
This semi-limited rod is worth aiming for
Looking to get the Krampus Rod in Fisch before the Fischmas event goes away? Here’s what to do.
Sitting as a direct improvement over the Fungus Rod, which can be obtained at just about any level, the Krampus Rod is a mid/late-game rod easily obtained with the right strategy.
How to get the Krampus Rod in Fisch
To get the Krampus Rod, you’ll first need to unlock the rod crafting through the Ancient Archive. It’s a long and involved process, but it can be done by players at any level. Just be persistent.
Once the path is open, you’ll be able to craft the Krampus Rod within the Archive itself. So long as you have the materials–and level 150.
If you need to grind some levels to reach its crafting requirement before the materials go the way of the dodo, try crafting the Wisdom Rod first and hitting up popular XP farming spots.
Is the Krampus Rod good?
The Krampus Rod is a well-balanced rod in its own right, but you’ll no doubt have a rod with better stats once you’re a high enough level to craft it.
What makes the Krampus Rod so good is its ability to apply a powerful and long-lasting Luck V or Lure V boost after every 10th catch. Fish fast enough and you can have both up simultaneously, with duplicates adding to their duration.
Once the desired buff is in effect, you can switch back to your best rod to reap the benefits. Paired with Rapid Catchers, it’s possible to get both buffs, or fish up a storm with a better rod with a powerful (and free) buff boosting your efforts.
How to get Krampus Rod crafting materials
The tricky part of the Krampus Rod is netting the following crafting materials:
- 3x Icicle
- 1x Festive Driftwood
- 1x Magic Thread
- 30,000C$
If you’re here, you’ll undoubtedly have enough Magic Thread. It’s a common material you’ll reel in naturally as you fish anywhere.
The icicles can only be obtained in the Winter Village during the Fischmas event. Use your Snowglobe to teleport there and fish away. They’re fairly common and can come from the crates found in the water, too.
Just don’t sell them. You won’t be able to get these once the event ends.
As for Festive Driftwood, while technically a limited item, you can fish them up anywhere so long as you’re using the Candy Cane Rod bought from the Winter Village. Get the rod before the event ends and you’ll be able to search for these indefinitely.
Use the Garbage bait to boost your chances, and just wait for the Candy Cane Rod to cast its mutation on the Driftwood you’re sure to reel in.
You can’t Appraise the Festive mutation, so don’t bother bankrolling the Appraiser NPC. If you didn’t get the rod, you’re likely out of luck.
As items can be traded, you might be able to find someone with enough spares on hand to fill in any crafting material gaps you may have at the end of the event.
What’s the best enchant for Krampus Rod?
Because the idea is to race to the 10th catch to get a buff without another falling off, and not simply to catch rare and valuable fish, the clear winner of the best Krampus Rod enchantment is Hasty.
Is the Krampus Rod limited?
We don’t yet know if the ability to craft the Krampus Rod will be removed once the Fischmas event ends in early January 2025. There’s a chance it’ll remain on the crafting window, making it possible to craft if someone trades you any limited-time crafting materials you’re missing.
If you already have the rod, it won’t disappear once the event ends.
