Catching fish in Fisch is easy once you get the hang on it. In the moment, though, the simple interface and the sheer thrill of the moment you’ve been waiting for cause you to panic.
How to fish in Fisch
Fisch fishing is essentially a three-step process: casting, snagging, and reeling. That’s throwing the hook out there, waiting for a fish to bite, and fighting against it to pull it from the water. In Fisch, that’s three little mini-games you need to complete to land a catch.

How to cast the line
First, you want to equip your best Fisch rod. This should be on slot 1 of your item bar at the bottom. Hit that number on your keyboard or tap/click it to equip it.
Whenever you buy a new rod, you’ll, tap the second slot “Equipment Bag” and you’ll be able to choose from your available rods by tapping the equip button beneath one.
When your rod equipped, get close to a body of water and click/tap and hold anywhere on the screen. This will cause a vertical bar to appear beside your character that. You can let go at any time to cast your line into the water.
Letting go as the marker nears the top will send it out just a little further, which can help you land the hook in a specific spot without needing to reposition. Don’t worry about it for now.
How to snag a fish
You’ll snag a fish automatically as enough time passes in this phase, but you can speed things up by tapping the “Shake” buttons that appear.
Clicking anywhere else will immediately cancel the cast. You won’t lose bait, which can affect the potential fish you can catch, but it wastes time.
How to reel in a fish
You’ll enter the catch phase when a “!” appears over your head. You’ll also hear what sounds like two chirps of a bird, giving you both a visual and audible cue that it’s time to reel one in. You don’t need to click at this point to start the next phase.
With a fish on the hook, the aim is to keep the long horizontal white bar within the moving vertical line that represents the fish. Click/tap and hold to move the bar to the right, or let go to make it go to the left.
Keeping the fish line in the white bar moves the progress meter higher, whereas letting it slip out will cause the bar to slowly decrease. You’ll catch the fish when the meter fills, and lose it if it empties out.
Every fish moves in a different pattern, making it virtually impossible to predict any catch perfectly.
Manage to fill the meter without ever letting the fish line escape the horizonal bar and you’ll gain 2x XP for the catch. You’ll also land a fish that’s worth just a little bit more than normal.
