Fisch Angler quests – How to catch a Flounder
These squids ain’t kids
Your first step in becoming a master catcher in Fisch is learning how to complete Angler quests. But when you’re just getting started, knowing how to catch a Flounder–the typical first task for a new player–can be a tall order.
With different rods, baits, locations, and everything in-between, catching a particular fish in Fisch can be like trying to align the stars. But in clearing the first few quests for the Angler, you’ll have a better understanding of the game’s logic, making subsequent challenges a little less of a riddle.
What are Angler quests in Fisch?
The Angler dishes out a random quest to catch a fish available in the zone he’s located in, including the Chinook Salmon, Alligator Gar, and Trumpetfish.
In Moosewood, where you typically spawn, you’ll find him directly opposite the store in Moosewood Village, under a shelter by the pond. Just look for his leaderboard.
Completing Angler quests will eventually land you on the server’s Angler quest leaderboard. It keeps a tally of the total Angler quests a player has completed to-date.
How to catch a Flounder in Fisch
A likely first task the Angler will toss when you start off at Moosewood is to catch a Flounder. Talk to him again to learn roughly where to catch one, but he won’t say what rod and bait to use, nor what the weather should be.
To catch the Flounder, you don’t need to stray far. You can reel it in from the ocean as you stand on the docks by the spawn point at Moosewood. And while your rod and the season won’t make a huge difference, the bait, time, and weather will.
First off, you’ll want to wait for a Windy night. Then, you’ll need to use Squid as bait to fish up a Flounder. You can’t use Squid you catch as bait, nor can you simply buy it. To get Squid bait in Fisch, you’ll need to use Bait Crates.
In 20 crates, we got two 6x Squid drops. It isn’t a great result, so you’ll want to ensure you’re using the rare bait at the right time and in the right weather conditions. Otherwise, you’ll use it all without ever fishing up the Flounder for the Angler.
Once you have your Flounder, take it to the Angler back in Moosewood Village for your reward.
Are Angler quest rewards worth it?
Early on, Angler quest rewards can be a great source of XP, money, and essential items.
So long as you know where, when, and how to catch the fish he requests, you won’t waste too many resources finding it, making the rewards well worth the time and effort.
Down the line, Angler quests are good only if you’re looking to grind levels or climb the Angler leaderboards. There are better ways to make money in the game.
