We’ve reworked our Fisch Angler guide in response to their inclusion in the Grand Reef questline.
Your first step in becoming a master catcher in Fisch is learning how to complete Angler quests. Here’s every fish he can ask for and where to get them.
With different rods, baits, locations, and everything in-between, catching a particular fish in Fisch can be like trying to align the stars. But in clearing the first few quests for the Angler, you’ll have a better understanding of the game’s logic, making subsequent challenges a little less of a riddle.
What are Angler quests in Fisch?
The Angler dishes out a random quest to catch a fish; including the Chinook Salmon, Alligator Gar, and Trumpetfish.
In Moosewood, a new player’s first spawn point, you’ll find him directly opposite the store, under a shelter by the pond. Just look for his leaderboard, his black and white attire, and his questioning face.
Angler NPCs can be found on nearly every named island, either at their main ports or not far from them.
What’s the cooldown on Angler quests?
After completing an Angler quest, you’ll have to wait 10 minutes before being able to accept another. Speaking to an Angler NPC at another location does not change this.
All Angler fish requests and locations
The fish the Angler asks for is completely random and won’t always be available on the island where the quest was given. The only exception is the Angler in the Depths, who’ll always ask for a fish available there exclusively.

When accepting a quest from the Angler in the Depths, he’ll only ask for the following fish available in that biome.

Are Angler quest rewards worth it?
On top of paying out 1.25x-3x the sale price of the requested fish, the Angler awards XP based on the rarity of the fish caught, too.
He’ll also sometimes award items available in Bait Crates of increasing quality as you complete more quests.
- <5 quests | No reward
- 6–25 quests | Bait Crate rewards
- 26–50 | Quality Bait Crate rewards
- 51 or more | Volcanic Geode rewards
Completing Angler quests will also eventually land you on the server’s Angler quest leaderboard. It keeps a tally of the total Angler quests a player has completed to-date.
From Jan. 5–17, completing Angler quests became a necessary part of the Grand Reef questline.
