All FFXIV Dawntrail Heritage Found Aether Current locations
Heritage Found? Aether Currents found.
You’ll need to track down the Heritage Found Aether Current locations in the Final Fantasy XIV Dawntrail expansion zone before you can ride you magic taxis through the storms.
A good portion of this zone’s aether currents are collected via main quests and the side quests they unlock. The rest, you’ll have to find on foot by scurrying through caves, tunnels, and scrambling up cliffs.

Heritage Found Aether Currents quests
You’ll need to complete the following quests to get the remaining Aether Currents in Heritage Found:
- Stressed Testing | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Gone and Forgotten” to unlock)
- Aunty Known Best | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Gone and Forgotten” to unlock)
- He Who Remembers | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Memories of a Knight” to unlock)
- Phyt for Survival | Side-quest (clear MSQ “Memories of a Knight” to unlock)
- Unto the Summit | MSQ
You won’t have to think about when to pick these up. Each set unlocks as you complete the main scenario quest chain that starts in that half of the map. You can’t miss them.
The Aether Current side-quests in Heritage Found are a little spaced out. One will have you travel a far distance, with another being a particularly annoying escort quest.
What are Aether Currents?
Aether Currents are collectibles you’ll find in each major zone from Heavensward onward. Collect the lot to unlock the ability to fly mounts in that specific zone.
Though most are collected out in the field, side-quests and main story quests reward the rest of the Aether Currents you’ll need to unlock flying in a zone.
It’s largely believed that the aether current system is in place to slow down the potential rapid consumption of expansion content. The main quests guide you along a specific path through a zone, encouraging you to take in the sights and sounds of each new location—aspects you might otherwise skip over due to the conveniences of flight.
