How to unlock the Trickster Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2

As one of a few hybrid classes exclusive to the Arisen, learning how to unlock the Trickster Vocation in Dragon’s Dogma 2 as soon as possible can open up diverse new combat mechanics for some early fights. If you’re not sure how to go about it, read on.

If you’re relatively early into the game or can’t progress without doing a few side quests, you might want to know how to find a place with lots of tomes. Like needing flowers for Daphne, they’re seemingly optional missions that ultimately tie back into the first leg of the story. While you’re there, you’ll want to buy a Dragon’s Dogma 2 home to call your own.

To unlock the Trickster class, you’re going to need to wrap up most of the main quests Captain Brant dishes out in Vernworth. Once you’re ready to get into Battahl, you’ll be very close to unlocking Trickster.

When you have the In Dragon’s Wake quest, set it as a priority and bring a quest-guiding Pawn along for the ride. It’ll make things much easier.

The quest gives you reason to venture to a shrine south of the Checkpoint Rest Town to the west of Vernworth. That’s beyond the gates into Battahl. It’s a huge temple with matching tall pyramid-like pylons lining the road to it.

Once you reach the temple, a ghostly figure at the top of the staircase will grant you access to the Trickster vocation.

Once you’ve unlocked the Vocation, you just need to head to any convenient Vocation Guild to automatically gain the free equipment needed to use it.

If you dropped a fast travel point at the Rest Stop between Battahl and Vernmund, that’s a good place to go without losing too much progress. If not, the Portcrystal in Vernworth could be your next port of call.
