Prey for the Pack Dragon’s Dogma 2 guide – Where is Rodge?

Not sure how to clear the Prey for the Pack quest in Dragon’s Dogma 2? If you can’t find Rodge, are struggling to get him back to town, or don’t know what to do if things take a turn for the worst, we’ve got a few pointers to put you back on the right path.

At this point, you’ll likely need to know how to find the Nameless Village to continue the main story. If you’ve skipped ahead a bit, knowing where to find Captain Brant, a Bunch of Flowers, or some fancy clothes might be on the agenda instead.

An annotated map showing how to clear the Prey for the Pack quest in Dragon's Dogma 2.

As soon as you rock up into the Checkpoint Rest Town, head to Morris, the vendor, toward the back of the village.

He and another man will tell you that Rodge, his grandson, has gone missing. Reports of wolves dragging him away are swirling through the people, and it’s now up to you to discover what has really happened.

Ask around town, either by interacting with the locals or having them come to you, and you’ll soon come to learn of a place called the Putrid Cave.

This den to the east is found in a shrouded grove. Either head to the spot on the map or get a quest tracker to take you to it. It can be hard to spot through the darkness that covers it. Light those lanterns.

The scraps you'll find in place of Rodge if you fail the Prey for the Pack quest in Dragon's Dogma 2.

This is one of the first proper timed quests you’ll come across in Dragon’s Dogma 2. Sleep on it for too long and the worst will befall poor Rodge. In this case, you’ll find nothing but some scraps of his belongings at the back of the cave; the wolves having long had him for dinner. Take the evidence back to town to get a meagre reward.

Rush straight to the area, though, and you’ll potentially find Rodge alive, but likely not well. Being nabbed by ravenous dogs, knowing their eventual intent, will surely take its toll. Escort the poor lad back to his grandfather for a hero’s welcome.

On top of experience points, you’ll get 11,000 Gold and two Miracle Roborant for the deed.

How to get Rodge back to town

If you have a Portcrystal set up near the Checkpoint town, escort Rodge out of the wolve’s den and consider using a Ferrystone to drag him and your team straight back to his grandfather.

Rodge is likely injured from the ordeal and will walk very slowly. He takes the long way back to town.

Somehow, he can also kill himself by wriggling free of your attempts to hoist him back to town on your shoulders, succumbing to fall damage on the way down. He’s also been known to stroll through the river, ending himself in the process.

The dialogue screen from Morris if you don't rescue Rodge during the Prey for the Pack quest in Dragon's Dogma 2.

What to do if Rodge is dead

If you slacked on the job or didn’t manage to keep Rodge safe on the road back to town, there’s only one thing for it: a Wakestone.

If you lost his soul on the walk, just interact with Rodge’s corpse to use a Wakestone, bringing him back from the great beyond. Consider lugging his corpse back to town and reviving him there. That way you won’t risk having him die again on the way.

If you only found scraps in the cave, you won’t find Rodge in the crypts. The boy’s been torn to shreds. There’s nothing you can do.

What to do if Rodge goes missing

When escorting Rodge back to town, it’s not uncommon to lose sight of him. If it’s dark at night, you’ll have little choice, and setting up camp can sometimes see the same thing happen.

In most cases, you might find Rodge back in the Putrid Cave. Reports suggest this can be beneficial: he’ll have healed up enough to walk, rather than limp, back to town,  speeding the whole quest up and dramatically reducing the risk of failing to keep him safe.
