Despite reports of the game’s director suggesting that fast travel wouldn’t be part of the game, that couldn’t be farther from the truth.

There is a way to fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2 – it’s just not as simple as opening up the map and selecting a visited cave, outpost, village, or city.

To fast travel in Dragon’s Dogma 2, you need to find and use a Ferrystone from your inventory. These rare commodities are consumable, single-use items best used to save time before losing access to a quest, or as a handy way to avoid a tricky walk home.

Using a Ferrystone from the inventory screen opens up the map, with a list of fast travel locations on the left for you to select your destination. Choose your location and you’ll show up there in no time, avoiding the perils of traveling on foot.

Fast travel destinations in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are linked to large glowing rocks known as Portcrystals.

To unlock an area as a fast travel option via a Ferrystone, you need to find the location’s Portcrystal first. It’s not enough to simply enter a location and expect it to become a fast travel option immediately after.

Portcrystals themselves are rare; typically limited to larger civilian destinations like Vernmouth, where the Portcrystal is located just south of the Pawn Guild, or larger port towns. Fast traveling to smaller outposts or villages is rarely possible early in the game, creating reason for the Oxcart system to exist.

As you explore more of the world, you’ll begin to rely on portable Portcrystals. You’ll get one of these during the main quest in Vernworth, with more locked behind secrets and tricky tasks. In a pinch, you can even buy one through the game’s controversial DD2 microtransactions menu. You can place, retrieve, and redeploy these nifty objects just about wherever you want.

Over time, you’ll make a personal teleporation network by dropping these at any location you frequent, areas of interest, material hotspots, or dungeons you need to take breaks from: so long as you have the Ferrycrystals to use them.

While you’re off adventuring, our Dragon’s Dogma 2 map can help you stay on course. And if you have questions about a specific mission or system, our Dragon’s Dogma 2 guides hub could be worth pouring over.
