Where to get fancy clothes in Dragon’s Dogma 2

If you want to attend the Masquerade parties in Capcom‘s latest RPG, you’ll probably be wondering where to get fancy clothes in Dragon’s Dogma 2 in Vernworth Castle as part of the Stolen Throne questline, since you can’t just show up in your standard equipment.

Thankfully, there are several of ways to get part of what you need for the Sovran’s little dance party in Dragon’s Dogma 2, but there’s one piece of clothing you might have to wait on. Sneaking into Sven’s Chamber is something you might want to consider. In addition, if you haven’t helped the little girl down in the Slums, check out how to get a bunch of flowers. It’s a trick that could help you get your own home in Dragon’s Dogma 2 with potential savings.

Clothes that are fancy enough to gain you entry into the Masquerade in Dragon’s Dogma 2 are the Courtly Breeches and Courtly Tunic — but only when paired with the Eventide Mask. Here’s how to get the whole lot:

Where to find Courtly Breeches and Tunic

You can get the Courtly Breeces and Tunic in three different ways — from the armour store in the Merchant’s Quarter in Vernworth, from various chests around the capital, or as a reward for certain main scenario-adjacent sidequests.

If you have the money, buying them at the shop is the quickest solution to this conundrum. If you’d rather swindle them from someone else, multiple houses in the Noble’s Quarter contain chests hiding pieces of the Courtly item set. If you get one piece from one room, the other is likely elsewhere in the house. Just go for a wander and you’ll soon find them. The occupants don’t seem to mind.

Lastly, completing the Ornate Box quest rewards a set of the Courtly items from Sven. This quest takes multiple in-game days to complete, and you will need to spend a bit of money on the required item, but it links back to the main quest anyway, which can make it the more sensible route. The “suitable raiment” serves little purpose outside of the masquerade, and carrying it until you need it can really hold you down.

To echo how common the otherwise expensive garb can be, you can actually pull a set from Sven’s room before (or after) completing The Ornate Box. He has multiple matching pairs.

How to get the Eventide mask for the Masquerade

Even with the Courtly clothes as your party attire, the Masquerade being what it is, you won’t be able to enter without a mask. The easiest and most logical way to do this is to keep plugging away at the main quests in Vernworth.

Once you’ve cleared enough for the Masquerade quest to be the last one available from Captain Brant, he’ll give you what you need. In this case, that’s the Eventide Mask.

With all three items equipped, you’ll be able to enter the Masquerade without the guards hacking you down at the doors. Just talk to the guy before you go wandering in and he’ll confirm if you’re allowed. It sure beats losing your limbs when you’re dressed to dance.
