How to increase carry capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2

Feeling the need to increase your carry capacity and weight limit in Dragon’s Dogma 2? You’ll hit an inventory limit a lot as you adventure around the continent, but there are a bunch of ways to get around it.

Decreed by the weight of your items rather than the physical space they take up, you often have the make the decision to carry a few heavier pieces in place of lots of smaller items like restoratives, valuable materials, and ammunition. Read on to learn of ways to increase your inventory size in Dragon’s Dogma 2 to reduce that travel friction.

How to increase inventory size and weight capacity in Dragon’s Dogma 2

There’s a three-step process for increasing your inventory space in Dragon’s Dogma 2. One is temporary, the second is permanent and a quest in its own right, and the last is basically a life hack. Here’s what to do.

Find Golden Trove Beetles

Collecting a Golden Trove Beetle from a tree in Dragon's Dogma 2.

While exploring the plains outside of the major towns and cities, you’ll seldom come across large golden bugs relaxing on the side of a tree. These Golden Trove Beetles are scattered throughout the world.

When used from the inventory, they increase the user’s carry weight capabilities by a small amount. Find enough and you’ll slowly but surely notice having to deposit your wares less frequently.

Golden Trove Beetles can be used either on yourself or your main pawn. Choose wisely, though: the benefits are per-character only, and there’s presumably a finite number of the big bugs in the world for you to collect, with each increasing your max carry capacity by 0.15g when used.

Finding Golden Trove Beetles isn’t particularly easy. It’s best to go off the beaten track often and keep a close eye on tree trunks as you go, but you’ll also find many as you travel the main roads, too. Doze off often on Oxcart rides and you could miss them.

Certain treasure-loving Pawns might be able to scout out nearby Golden Trove Beetles, and Thiefs with the Dowsing Spikes equipped could help if they illuminate whenever one is near.

Use inventory-increasing accessories

Along your travels, you might happen upon equippable rings. Though the exact stats they offer are often miniscule compared to your main armour, they can have all sorts of helpful abilities tied to their descriptions.

While some increase your resistance to debilitations and attack types, others increase your offense and defense in a more general way. But you can also find rings that increase your carry capacity for as long as they’re worn. Find one for each hand and you’ll be able to carry more when you need it.

Keep them in your inventory and you can switch between combat-focused rings and travel-appropriate ones when the time comes.

You can pick up a Ring of Accrual from Montgomery at Borderwatch Outpost early on if you have the cash on hand, but they’re freely available at most general merchants, too. They’re also sometimes quest rewards and are found semi-frequently in hidden chests, too.

Upgrade your gear

Upgrading armour in Dragon's Dogma 2 to reduce its weight.

Though the benefits are relatively light (get it?), upgrading anything in your pack that can be upgraded almost always decreases its weight by a small amount.

Because most equipment can be upgraded the first time with only a small amount of cash, giving everything in your pack a small upgrade can help you fit in more potions, food, and flowers.

So, if you happen to have two sets of equipment for different situations while out in the field, make sure to upgrade them all as much as you can. The weight difference will be noticeable and could go a long way in keeping you from having to spend too much time managing packs between fights.
