Disney Dreamlight Valley: How to find red algae
We explain how to get Red Algae in Gameloft’s Disney life sim
Disney Dreamlight Valley‘s red algae is the new ingredient confusing players.
It was added to the game’s December update and is required for crafting some items, but the game doesn’t explain how to find it.
Luckily, we’ve got the answer for you – read on to find out how to get red algae, and what it’s used for.
Disney Dreamlight Valley – Where to find red algae
Red Algae is a new crafting material, and can be found next to Rich Soil in the game’s Foraging menu under the Collection screen.
Red Algae is needed to create some items, including the Miracle Fishing Bait and the Even More Miraculous Fishing Bait.
However, when you look up Red Algae in the Foraging menu the game only tells you what it sells for, not how or where to find it.
Well, we can confirm that you find Red Algae by fishing. It appears to work in a similar way to Rich Soil, which was added in the October update.
Just like Rich Soil appears randomly when you’re harvesting crops, Red Algae appears randomly when you’re fishing.
Sometimes when you catch a fish, a flash will appear and Red Algae will come out too.
At this stage it’s not clear whether Red Algae appears in every body of water in the game, but so far we’ve definitely found it in Dazzle Beach.
You may also be able to increase your chances of catching Red Algae if you use some of the Miracle Fishing Bait enchantment Merlin teaches you.
When you apply this to your fishing rod it gives you a better chance of catching rare things, and when we applied it we found Red Algae the very first time we tried fishing.
It’s still perfectly possible to get Red Algae without applying an enchantment to your rod, though. Just be patient and keep fishing and you’ll get some eventually.
