Blog: UK’s stormy weather decapitates Rare’s Kazooie statue
This is a blog post, where VGC writers post irreverent and (occasionally) entertaining coverage of video game culture.

Residents of the United Kingdom have been suffering from the biblical wind power of Storm Ciara this weekend.

The storm is estimated to have pumped out gusts of up to 97mph, leading to planes breaking speed records for crossing the Atlantic and most home owners waking with an extra trampoline in their back garden.

For developer Rare, however, a far more tragic discovery was waiting in its studio grounds: the decapitated remains of its Kazooie statue:

The statue in question was a 20-year-old original commissioned for the Nintendo games, making the incident extra distressing.

Asked for comment, Banjo-Kazooie artist Steve Mayles said: “Kazooie survived the worst Gruntilda could throw at her and Banjo over the years; who knew her weakness was a stiff breeze?”

Nothing a bit of sticky bear honey can’t fix.
