This year, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater celebrates its 25th anniversary.
The extreme sports franchise, which was developed by Neversoft and published by Activision, was at one point incredibly critically acclaimed and adored by fans.
However, as the franchise progressed and Skateboarding as a hobby lost its prominence in popular culture, the Tony Hawk franchise fell from grace.
Far from the heights of being one of the highest-rated games in history with Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 5, released over a decade later, was blasted by both fans and critics.

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the franchise, this month on Chatting Vintage Games, VGC’s Retro podcast, Chris Scullion, and Jordan Middler looked back on the rise and fall of the iconic franchise.
