Blog: Even Hollywood actors are looking for decent turnip prices
This is a blog post, where VGC writers post irreverent and (occasionally) entertaining coverage of video game culture.

In April 2020 nobody is as popular as the player with the high prices for turnips.

As demonstrated by Twitter user Jessa, even Hollywood celebrities are attracted by the opportunity to make a few bells on Animal Crossing’s Stalk Market.

On Thursday Lord of the Rings star Elijah Wood showed up at Jessa’s island following a social media call for visitors due to her 599 bell turnip prices. “This is the best day in quarantine yet,” she said.

“I freaked out! I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Jessa told BuzzFeed. “I thought it was such a random, sincere gesture. I couldn’t believe it until he was really on my island and still responding to me.”

Jessa and her friends also chatted to the actor about Star Wars, since Elijah is apparently a fellow fan of The Last Jedi. “We were saying things like ‘The Last Jedi outsold’ because we know Elijah is also a big fan of Episode VIII and it was a happy coincidence with my username. He said ‘long live Rian Johnson’ and then left!”

The exchange then improved her day even further, when Rian Johnson himself added a snapshot of the visit to his Twitter profile.

Following the visit, Jessa’s tweet went rival. The post attracted more than 500,000 likes and ‘Elijah Wood’ even briefly trended.

Elijah Wood has been involved in video games for many years. In the 00s he voiced Spyro the Dragon and recently worked on his own game with Ubisoft.
