Modern Warfare 2’s remastered campaign will release this week, VGC understands.

The much-tipped remaster, which is thought to have been developed by Wisconsin-based Raven Software, is most likely to arrive with the PlayStation Store’s big weekly update, which takes place every Tuesday.

Just like 2016’s re-release of the original Modern Warfare, Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will feature an updated version of the shooter’s campaign.

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: While there is no multiplayer mode included, some of the original game’s maps have already been remastered for the 2020 Modern Warfare game, with more coming in its upcoming Season 3 update.

MW2 Remastered will feature a tie-in with the new Modern Warfare, and thus free-to-play Warzone which shares the same item store.

Those who purchase Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered will receive a special Classic Ghost Bundle for Warzone and Modern Warfare, which includes a Legendary Ghost Operator Skin and other in-game items.

Simultaneously, anyone who purchases the Ghost Bundle in Modern Warfare or Warzone will receive the full version of MW2 Remastered, a recent datamine suggests.

UPDATE: Modern Warfare 2 Remastered has been listed on the German PlayStation Store, which confirms that the remaster will cost €24.99 and weigh in at 46.9GB. A trailer has also leaked:

ORIGINAL STORY CONTINUES: During a quarterly earnings call this February, Activision Blizzard chief financial officer Dennis Durkin confirmed plans to release “several remastered and reimagined” titles this year.

Earlier this month Activision launched free-to-play battle royale title Call of Duty: Warzone, which is reportedly the fastest growing non-mobile game of all time, while 2020’s premium Call of Duty offering will arrive in the fourth calendar quarter of the year.

During its recent earnings call, Activision said 2020’s premium Call of Duty game was already “generating excitement” in playtests.

And this month another noted Call of Duty leaker claimed 2020’s premium franchise instalment will be a gritty Black Ops reboot.
